Grover C. Bowles' of Memphis, Tennessee, and J.. Curtis Nottingham of Williamsburg, Virginia, have been elected to serve as treasurer of APhA and treasurer of the APhA Foundation, respectively. Both were elected to complete the unexpired terms of Hugo H. Schaefer who died on September 27. Elections for both offices will take place at the APhA annual meet. ing in Miami ~each, May 5-10. Bowles s,e rved as president of APhA · from 196-5 to 1966 and has served two three-year terms and one one-year term on the AtPhA Board of Trustees and was its chairman for three years. He was also chairman of the House of Delegates for two years. Nottingham, who is considered the architect of the local-stateAPhA affiliation program, served as APhA president from 1964 to 1965 and as chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1965 to 1966. He was elected to a three-year term on the APhA Board of Trustees in 196'6 and installed last April. Grover C. Bowles

are in via mail ballot of the second election of 'Officers of the APhA Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Newly elected officers of the academy and its seven sections will be inducted at the APhA annual meeting in Miami Beach, May 5-10,1968. New president-elect will be Leon Lachman, acting director of the pharmacy research and development division of Ciba, and Louis C. Schroeter, head of product development research and development at Upjohn will be the new vice president. Lachman, whose .research interests include stability testing, color stability, sterilization, complexation, kinetics and solid dosage forms, also has patents in the area of pharmaceutical technology and dosage form design. Active in academy affairs, he is chairman of the membership committee and a member of the finance, fellows and resolutions committees . . He is currently lalso vice president of the academy and a I member of the 'P arenteral Drug Association's board of directors. Louis C. Schroeter has taught at St. Louis College of Pharmacy and was a research assistant at the University of Wisconsin before joining Upjohn in 1959 as a research associate. His research and publications have included areas of kinetics, drug absorption, dosage form design a,nd evaluation, steroid synthesis, oxidation and free radi~al systems. He is the author of a technical reference book, Sulfur Dioxide: Applications in Foods, Beverages and Pharmaceuticals, and a chapter on coating of tablets, capsules and pills in Remington's Pharmaceutical Sciences.
