New LNG plant planned for Langzhong

B

lack & Veatch-Chemtex is to design and build a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Langzhong, China for Langzhong Shuangrui (Meifeng). The facility will produce 35 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of LNG. The project is expected to be completed in 2016. Chemtex, as the prime contractor, will provide lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction services, while Black & Veatch will also provide commissioning, start-up and other engineering services.

Jacobs secures Sturgeon refinery contract in Canada

J

acobs Engineering Group Inc is to provide engineering and procurement services for the utility requirements of North West Redwater Partnership’s Sturgeon refinery project in Alberta, Canada. The Sturgeon refinery is located approximately 30 miles northeast of Edmonton. While only Phase 1 is currently sanctioned, after three equal phases, the facility is expected to operate at a capacity of 150 000 barrels per day producing diesel, diluent, and other bitumen products. North West Redwater Partnership is a joint venture between North West Upgrading Inc and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. IDE’s evaporators selected for SAGD site in Canada

A

n oil and gas company focused on in-situ projects has bought two horizontal mechanical vapour compression (MVC) evaporators from IDE Technologies Ltd to increase the produced water treatment capacity of a steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) production site in Northern Alberta, Canada. IDE’s MVC evaporators will process and treat de-oiled produced water to continuously supply high quality distillate. The feed water will be used for drum boilers, generating steam for injection to recover bitumen at the SAGD site. The prefabricated evaporators will be shipped to the site after full pre-assembly and testing. “Over the last two years, IDE has been striving to increase its presence in the oil sands market in Alberta, bringing close to 50 years of water treatment success and proven horizontal evaporators to this market. With this project, we look forward to expanding our presence in this key market,” said Avshalom Felber, CEO of IDE Technologies.

KBR to upgrade Jebel Ali refinery

K

BR has been awarded a frontend engineering design (FEED) contract by Emirates National Oil Company Processing Co LLC (EPCL) for the upgrade of its condensate refinery at Jebel Ali. The Emirates National Oil Co (ENOC) facility currently has two trains of condensate distillation units. The upgrade will add new processing units (jet and diesel hydrotreaters and isomerization unit) and will lead to production of several Euro V grade products such as high octane gasoline, low sulfur jet fuel and ultra-low sulfur diesel.

Veolia to deliver water treatment facility for Shell

S

hell Canada has selected Veolia to design and supply a water treatment facility to recycle the water used for steam generation at

its Carmon Creek heavy oil project in Alberta, Canada. The Shell Carmon Creek Project, which is under construction, will produce up to 80 000 barrels per day of oil using enhanced oil recovery methods, where steam is injected into the underground reservoir to help produce the heavy oil. The water co-produced with the oil recovered from underground will be treated and re-used to generate steam. The Veolia treatment system will allow production of up to 50 000 tons of steam per day critical to the oil production process. Proprietary water technologies include the separation of hydrocarbons, warm-lime softening, after filters, ion exchange and evaporation.
