Aker Solutions secures Statoil frame agreement
O
il services provider Aker Solutions is one of several suppliers to have been awarded a frame agreement with Statoil for the delivery of subsea operations and services on the Norwegian continental shelf. Subsea operations and services covers installation of subsea equipment, maintenance, upgrade and recertification of tools and installed equipment. It also includes workover activities and life extension of subsea wells. The size of the frame agreement depends on call-offs and the number of projects that Statoil decides to execute. The five-year frame agreement has three additional three year options.

oster Wheeler AG’s Global Engineering and Construction Group has entered into a fiveyear global enterprise framework agreement (EFA) with Shell Global Solutions International BV. Under the agreement, Shell may request Foster Wheeler to provide support in the preparation of basic engineering packages for distillation, hydrocracking, hydrotreating, thermal conversion, ethylene oxide, pyrolysis gas, fluid catalytic cracking and sulfur dioxide scrubbing. This agreement has an option for Shell and Foster Wheeler to extend the deal for another five years. Jacobs receives Rio Tinto contract for Boron expansion project
J
acobs Engineering Group Inc is to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for Rio Tinto Minerals’ plant expansion project in Boron, California, USA. The expanded plant is designed to increase capacity and to use Rio Tinto Minerals’ new Modified Direct Dissolving of Kernite Ore (MDDK) technology, a process which allows sodium borate and boric acid production to continue until end of mine life.
Headworks BIO’s MBBR technology treats underground mine water
H
eadworks BIO Inc is to deploy its moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) technology to treat underground mine water at Claude Resources Inc’s Seabee Gold Mine in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. During the process, the influent water will receive pretreatment to have the total suspended solids removed. The water will then be heated to 10°C and the effluent will be discharged safely into a large pond.

GE and Toshiba partner on CCPP projects and technology

E and Toshiba Corp are entering a global strategic alliance to jointly develop combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) projects around the world.
The two companies will also explore forming a strategic joint venture for the development of next-generation combinedcycle power projects with higher levels of thermal efficiency. Toshiba and GE have cooperated in gas turbine combined-cycle power generation systems since 1982 and have existing agreements to pursue 50 Hz and 60 Hz projects together in Japan and in a number of key regions in Asia.
Alstom to deliver 850 MW gas-fired CCPP to Thailand
A
lstom, in consortium with Sumitomo Corp, has secured an engineering, procurement, commissioning and installation (EPCI) contract from Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to build the 850 MW North Bangkok combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) block 2 and supply its equipment. This will be Alstom’s first CCPP contract with EGAT and the first CCPP in the world to feature Alstom’s upgraded GT26 gas turbine. Alstom will supply two GT26 gas turbines, the turbogenerators, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), steam turbines and distribution control system for the Thai CCPP.

KBR to provide technology package for Indonesian ammonia & urea plant

BR is to deliver licencing, engineering services and proprietary equipment for PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang’s new 2000 MTPD ammonia and 2750 MTPD urea plant in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The construction of the grassroots facility is part of a consortium between Rekayasa and Toyo Engineering Corp. Rekayasa will be responsible for the ammonia and Toyo Engineering will be in charge of urea. The plant will be designed using KBR’s Purifier technology.
