NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICERS OF THE AMERICAN DAIRY SCIENCE ASSOCIATION Progress in the American Dairy Science Association depends upon membership participation in its various programs and the caliber of leadership elected. Therefore, it is exceedingly important that each ADSA member give serious consideration to nominations to fill the following positions in 1966-1967: 1. Vice-President from the Manufacturing area. The electee succeeds to the presidency. 2. One director from the ~Ianufacturing area to serve for three years. 3. One director from the Production area to serve for three years. Inasnmch as ADSA covers a broad spectrum of activities, representation of as many different major interests as possible in the Executive Board is important. Thus, all members are urged to give attention to the prospective nominee's background and affiliation, as well as to his other leadership qualifications. Each member will receive special forms on which to submit nominations. These will be assembled and transmitted to the Nominating Committee, which has the responsibility of
selecting from the nominees two candidates for each position. If, perchance, a member fails to receive a form, nominations may be sent by letter to Mr. C. J. GRADUATE STUDENT P A P E R PRESENTATION CONTEST 1966 Annual Meeting American Dairy Science Association Graduate student affiliate members are again encouraged to participate in this important phase of the Association's activities. At last year's meeting, many of the eighteen papers presented in this contest were among the best at the entire meeting. Several excellent papers were presented, however, by student affiliate members who had not entered the contest. Regular members are urged to encourage graduate students to participate in this activity. I t is an excellent way to improve the overall quality of all papers presented at the meeting and helps to focus attention on the new crop of young' dairy scientists. Greater effort should be made by advisors to provide and promote competition at the local level for contestants. Each institution is entitled to enter one participant in each contest (Production and Manufacturing). Participants must be student affiliate members. Guidelines and the scorecard for this Association activity are published in the J o u r n a l : (47: 573. 1964). Paul M. Reaves, Chairman
of the 1966 Program Comlnittee for A.D.S.A., has issued instructions regarding papers to be presented at the 61st annual meeting at Oregon State University. These will be mailed to each member by the Secretary of ADSA after J a n u a r y 1. Careful attention should be given to this article in mM~ing preparation for the contest.
