H. B L O S S E R
Timothy H. Blosser was born at Nappanee, Indiana, on January 7, 1920, and was reared on a dairy farm in northern Indiana. He received the B.S. degree in 1941 from Purdue University. From 1942-46 he served in the Medical Corps of the United States Army. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin in 1947 and 1949, respectively. He was appointed to the faculty of the Department of Dairy Science at the State College of Washington in 1958. He has served at that institution as Assistant Professor (194852), Associate Professor (1952-58), Professor and Dairy Scientist (1958-61), Chairman, Department of Dairy Science (1961-64) and is presently Chairman of the Department of Animal Sciences. His research has been on milk fever and ketosis in dairy cows, milk replacers for dairy calves and on factors affecting forage utilization by dairy cows. His teaching has involved courses in principles of nutrition, dairy cattle nutrition, dairy cattle management, dairy cattle type evaluation and mineral metabolism. He is on the approved judges list for three dairy cattle breeds. Dr. Blosser has been a member of the American Dairy Science Association since 1940 and has served on the Dairy Cattle Health Committee, 1960-62; Student Affiliate Committee, 1961-63; Dairy Cattle Type Committee, 196567; AFMA Awards Committee, 1965-67; Western Division ADSA Vice President (1961) and President (1962) and Committee on the Future of Western Division ADSA (1964). He was Secretary of the Washington State Dairyman's Association and was on the College Feed Survey Committee of the American Feed Manufacturers Association. He is a member of the American Society

J. E. Legates is a Wm. Neal Reynolds Professor of Animal Science and Head of the Aninml Breeding Section at North Carolina State University. He was born in Milford, Delaware, on August 1, 1922; and grew up on a dairy farm in southern Delaware. He received the B.S. degree in 1943 from the University of Delaware. From 1943 to 1946 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve attaining the rank of captain. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Iowa State University in 1947 and 1949, respectively. Dr. Legates was appointed to the faculty in the Department of Animal Science at North Carolina State University in 1949. He has served that institution as Assistant Professor (1949-51), Associate Professor (1951-54), Professor (1954-56) and Win. Neal Reynolds Professor since 1958. From 1955 to 1958 he was Acting Head of the Dairy Husbandry Section, and since 1958 he has been Head of the Animal Breeding Section. His research has dealt primarily with the improvement of dairy cattle through selection. He has led investigations dealing with the heritability of nonfat solids, protein, mastitis and reproductive efficiency. He contributed to the development of the herdmate comparison and initiated a system of young sire sampling and evaluation in 1950 which is in use in state-owned herds of North Carolina. Dr. Legates has been a member of the American Dairy Science Association since 1946. He has served on the following Association Committees: Dairy Cattle Breeding Committee, 1952-54; Editorial Board, 1958-62; Resolutions Committee, 1961 ; Milk Composition Committee 1962-63, chairman, 1964; Journal Management Committee 1962-63, chairman, 1964; Production Section, Secretary, Vicechairman, Chairman 1965-67; Program Committee, 1967; and Nominating Committee, ]968. In 1967 he was awarded the Borden Award in Dairy Production. He is a member of Alpha Zeta, American Society of Animal Science, Dairy Shrine Club, Genetics Society of America, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Zi. from the Chapter in 1967. He has served as consultant for the Rockefeller Foundation in Colombia, and the US-AID Mission to Peru. During 1959 he was visiting professor at the National Research Institute of Animal Husbandry at Copenhagen and now is serving as a member of the FAO Panel on Animal Breeding and Climatology. He is an active Methodist, now serving as District Lay Leader and Vice-chairman of the Board of the Laity for the North Carolina Conference. ~.. N. BOYD
E. N. Boyd is Professor and Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was born in Trinity, Kentucky, December 20, 1922, and was educated in elementary and secondary schools in Lewis County Kentucky. He served three years in the U. S. Army. The B.S. degree was received from Eastern Kentucky University; the M.S. from the University of Kentucky; and the Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in 1952. From 1952-1955 he served as Assistant Professor of Dairy Science at the University of Kentucky. In January 1955 he accepted a position as Research Chemist with Swift and Company and in 1957 moved to Washington, D.C. in a position with the Cooperative State Research Service. In this position he was responsible for coordinating food science and technology research sponsored by Federalgrant funds at the State Agricultural Experiment Stations. A year's Sabbatic leave from USDA was enjoyed in 1963-1964 when he was on detail to Pennsylvania State University, working with Dr. Stuart Patton in his lipids research program. A member of the ADSA since 1952 he has served as Chairman of the Resolutions Committee, Manufacturing Section; Membership Chairman, Washington, D.C. area; and currently is serving as a member of the ADSA Education Committee. nologists and its Carolina-Virginia Section; Gamma Sigma Delta; Phi Lambda Upsilon; and is listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He has been in his present position since July 1, 1968. HAROLD E. CALBERT
Received B.A. degree from Allegheny College (1939); M.S. (1947) and Ph.D. (1948) from University of Wisconsin. After serving in Armed Forces during WW II~ joined staff of the University of Wisconsin as an instructor in ]948. Appointed Professor of Dairy and Food Industries in 1960, and has been Chairman of the Department of Food Science and Industries since 1961. Research work has been in the field of food plant sanitation and quality control, food ingredients, dairy and food chemistry. Has taught courses in fluid milk processing, sanitation and quality control, food ingredients, dairy and food chemistry. Past President of Wisconsin Dairy Technology Society and the Wisconsin Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians. Former chairman of the Environmental Sciences Training Committee of the Public Health Service. Currently a member of the National Advisory Urban and Industrial Health Council of the Public Health Service. Past president of the Madison Kiwanis Club. Holds membership in American Dairy Science Association, International Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians, Sigma Xi, Phi Sigma, Gamma Alpha, Phi Tau Sigma, Institute of Food Technologists, American Association for Advancement of Science.
